Metal Braces
Why Braces?
Metal braces are ideal for patients of all ages and can fix various orthodontic issues. We typically recommend traditional braces for patients who need more extensive care.
Some issues that traditional braces can fix include:
- Overcrowding
- Crooked, misaligned teeth
- Malocclusion
- Uneven spacing and gaps
Correcting these issues gives patients a more symmetrical smile while improving speech and comfort while eating.
What to Expect with Braces
Orthodontic treatment begins with a complete consultation that involves X-rays, impressions, and an exam. We take the time to get to know you and/or your child while assessing your orthodontic needs and goals.
When treatment begins, we affix metal brackets to each tooth and connect the brackets with a thin metal wire. We hold the wire in place with small rubber bands (fun colors optional!). After the initial appointment, you will return to see us every 6-8 weeks so that we can adjust the wiring.
Treatment with traditional metal braces can take months or several years, depending on the needs of each patient. We do everything possible to ensure your treatment is as comfortable and quick as possible while attaining beautiful results that leave you smiling bright.
Are Braces Right for You?
Many people desire to have perfectly straight teeth. Yet, few are born with them. Severe crowding and misalignment are common issues that can make dental hygiene difficult. During an initial free consultation, our team will determine if braces are right for you. The benefit of traditional braces is their durability. Although adjustments are needed, braces remain affixed to your teeth until professionally removed, so they're ideal for patients of all ages.
