Q & A with Dr. Stephanie DeFilippo

Owner / Pediatric Specialist

Dr. Stephanie DeFilippo, co-owner of Gettysburg Dental Associates, became a pediatric dental specialist to "get to the root" of dental fear.

Dr. DeFilippo attended Penn State University before attaining her dental degree from West Virginia University. In addition to the American and Pennsylvania Dental Associations, Dr. DeFilippo is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. What is your hometown? 

"I was raised in West Virginia. I now live in Gettysburg with my family."

Do you have family also in the medical field?

My dad is a retired Nurse Anesthetist.

What inspired you to become a pediatric specialist? 

“While working in general dentistry, I encountered countless adults with dental fear after negative childhood experiences. This experience inspired me to complete my residency in pediatric dentistry at St.Christopher's Hospital for Children and focus my continuing education on a pediatric specialty.

My goal is to combat dental fear. I want to help my pediatric patients have a wonderful experience and a positive relationship with their dentist.”

When did you join Gettysburg Dental Associates?

"I joined the team in November 2011."

 “I love our team. Every day, this group of people comes together to accomplish the common goal of making our patient experience excellent. I also love helping people understand and improve their dental health every day.”

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? 

“I enjoy living and volunteering within the Gettysburg community with my husband, Christian, daughter, Athena, and son, Dante. I also enjoy reading, traveling, and going to the spa.”
